We are all still alive and loving Rome. The city is an amazing mixture of old and new. Ruins and statues abound in such numbers that it's easy to get tunnel vision and walk right past some things. Unfortunatley, the hostel's wireless Internet sucks and we are not allowed to use the USB ports on the hostel's computer, so uploading pictures is not an option right now. Hopefully we will find a decent internet cafe or a better internet connection once we get outside of Italy so that we can begin posting photos. Cheers!

Glad you are all safe and well. Enjoy the incredible sights of Rome. Make sure Elon takes you to the Jewish Ghetto for a meal. Try to go to the Borghese Gallery to see the Bernini statues. You'll never see anything more amazing made by man! Elon, email when you can and I hope all your traveling and security gear is working. Stay safe, Mom

Hey man, glad you all are having fun. Can't wait to hear what you think of the smaller towns outside Rome. I always liked the small towns the best.

Hi everyone! I was reading ahead in your itinerary and Googled the Cinque Terre Holidays hostel. Please note several posts on Trip Advisor: "...the reception closes at 5:00pm and it didn't say so on the reservation form online! We were arriving all the way from Venice, which took a good 14-hour train trip ... so we arrived at Cinque Terre late at night..there was no way to get into the hostel, the reception was closed, and even though we found the hostel's phone number and called to ask them to open the door for us, nobody cared (and they even told us to screw off!). So not only did we spend the night setting up camp in front of the hostel's doors, we were charged for the whole night...

I hope you are arriving well before 5pm and don't sleep on the street!! xxoo

By now you should be on your way to Cinque Terre, It was so good hearing from Spencer last night and to know all is well. Glad everyone loved Rome, and you are moving on to your next destination safely. It is not worth trying to fight for your stuff, you do not know what is around the next corner, just let it go and move on.
Have a wonderful journey and be safe. Love Mom

Can't wait 'til I'm over there too - it's starting to sink in. Post some updates! If I want to meet up with you guys, will I be able to contact you or will you not have reliable internet access?

We are so glad you enjoyed Cinque Terre. Hope Venice is wonderful, too. In Vienna, be sure to see the Cathedral, Hapsburg Palace and the Opera House. Make sure you have some Sacher Torte at the Hotel Sacher. Grandma Schein lived in a little town just south of Vienna called Lvov(or Lemburg - it goes by both names). Sorry we missed your call, Elon. We were in a noisy restaurant and didn't hear the phone. The NYU orientation schedule is posted (it start a week earlier than you were thinking). Call us when you get a chance. I'll keep my cell phone in my hand. Love, Mom & Dad
